Re:
2011 Watonga Cheese Festival Parade Entries
Welcome
Watonga Cheese Festival Parade Participants,
The
Chamber would like to personally welcome you to our 35th Annual
Watonga Cheese Festival and Parade. It is going to be an exciting event with
your help and participation in this year’s parade. Please read carefully the following
information. Due to the large number
of entries for the parade this letter it is intended to eliminate as much
confusion on Parade day as possible. If
you have not already contacted me or sent in a Parade
Entry Form, please get in touch so we know to expect you.
The
following outline is “what to expect” and “where to go” on parade
day.
- The parade will
start promptly at 12:30 pm on Saturday, October 8th, 2011. All entries and/or participants need
to be lined-up and ready to proceed no later than 12:15 pm.
- Registration and
check-in will be from 11:00 am to 12:15 am. Check-in will take place at
the Blaine County Fairgrounds entrance gate (East 7th St). There will
be plenty of free parking for all vehicles at the fairgrounds (Watch for
Signs and see attached Parade Map).
- Each entry will be
assigned an entry number and parade position, and street location of where
to line-up (See attached Parade Map). Each entry number and line-up
location will be marked on the street where you are to be located prior to
the start of the parade. This number corresponds with the entry number you
will be assigned at check-in.
- The parade route will
start at 7th
Street and proceed south on Noble Avenue
through downtown Watonga, ending at “A” Street. Parade route is about ¾
mile in length and is straight with no turns. Streets to line-up or
pre-stage will be 7th
Street East & West, 8th Street East &
West, and 9th
Street East & West with Noble Avenue
dividing East and West streets. (We may use 6th street if needed) All parade entries are to start the
parade based on the following order:
- 9th Street East (Entries on this street will start the parade
and proceed in numerical order)
- 9th Street West (Entries on this street will follow the last
entry from 9th
Street East)
- 8th Street East (Entries on this street will follow the last
entry from 9th
Street West)
- 8th Street West (Entries on this street will follow the last
entry from 8th
Street East)
- 7th Street East (Entries on this street will follow the last
entry from 8th
Street West)
- 7th Street West (Entries on this street will follow the last
entry from 7th
Street East)
- Our Master of
Ceremonies is located on the second floor balcony of the Noble House
Restaurant (1/2 block north of Main
Street). When you get to this area, you need
to pause if you have special music and/or presentation. In past years,
spectators line both sides of Noble
Avenue from 4th Street to “A” Street.
Those entries having bus transportation can re-load their passengers
beyond the end of the parade route. Buses can locate along either side of
East or West “A” Street (See Parade Map).
We
look forward to a great day of festivities, which includes the 2011 Watonga
Cheese Festival Parade, made possible by your participation. As Festival Parade
Chairman, I would like to thank each of you, in advance, for your time, effort,
cooperation, and participation in making this year’s parade a success.
Should
you have any questions please call or email me.
