The Watonga Cheese Festival will return this October for its traditional two-day event.

The festival will be Oct. 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Watonga citizens are thrilled to bring this wonderful, family event back for those who have been coming for so many years and for those who haven’t yet had an opportunity to experience the festival.

Last year the town of Watonga, including the cheese factory, suffered extensive storm damage in August, and the committee was forced to cancel the fall festival.

All Cheese Festival activities will take place in downtown Watonga, and the parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Festival admission is $5 for one or 2 days. Children 12 and under are admitted free.

Culinary Contest and Show

The contest show will be on Friday.  Each contestant will be given a basket containing some items, including cheese and beef.   The participants are going to have to come up with an appetizer in a specific time frame.

Added to this year's Fine Art Show is a division for Youth (12 and under).

Also included new this year is an 'art project area' for children.  They will be given supplies (minimal fee for cost of supplies) and allowed to work on a project, with a little assistance, while Mom gets to view the Art Show.

Hello
Group
Leaders
!!!!
Exciting News from Watonga!

The Cheese Festival will be held this year.  It was cancelled in 2007 due to the hurricane that hit Watonga, but everyone has been working hard to have a great one in 2008!  You will find on this website many of the exciting events that will be going on.

As special incentives for groups this year, we are offering one free admission for every 10 paid.  We will also provide a place for motor coach and van unloading and parking.
I will be at the unloading site between 9:00 - 10:30 am to welcome your group.  Also, if you have collected the admission price from your group, I will have their stickers
.

We hope you will plan to put the Watonga Cheese Festival on your October schedule!
