Watonga Cheese & Wine Festival 

Cheese Fudge Recipe
1 lb. oleo
1 lb. Velveeta
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 cup cocoa
4 lb powdered sugar
2 cups chopped
pecans (optional) Melt
oleo and cheese
in microwave.
Mix well.
Add 1 tbsp. vanilla,
1 cup cocoa,
mix well.
Stir in 4 lbs. powdered
sugar and mix well.
Stir in chopped pecans.
Press in buttered 9 x 13 pan
 
Tasting Line Chairmen
recommend that 2 extra
cups of powdered sugar
be added to this recipe.
It will set up firmer and
be easier to cut.

Your pass get you admission into the armory, tent, cheese tasting, and two-days of live entertainment on two stages.

Help us choose the People's Choice Award!

Cheese & WineYou are invited to help us choose the People's Choice Award.  Sample our selection of all- Oklahoma wine, and choose your favorite.  With additional admission into the newly renovated winery tasting room, you will receive a souvenir glass.  (21 and over only.)

This will also be the second year of the Wine Competition.  Watonga Cheese Festival has partnered with Oklahoma Grape Industry Council (OGIC) to host the statewide wine competition, featuring an esteemed panel of judges from throughout Oklahoma.

Although they have chosen their favorite, it is time to choose yours! 

Art & Crafts Vendors

Our Festival offers collections of oils, acrylics, watercolors, and pastels, photography and graphics, plus pottery and sculpture. Demonstrations are given throughout the Festival. Plan to take home a work of art by shopping at the Art Show where you'll find inspiration for your home or office by artists from around the state, working in several different mediums.

We also have hundreds of booths of tempting bargains including home-made crafts, foods, home decor and gifts.

Fiber Arts Show

Our Festival also includes a fiber arts show which offers: spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet, felting, lace making, braiding, dyeing raising fiber animals and plants and more.  To participate as an artist in the 'Fiber Arts' Show, contact Donna Smith at 580-623-0637.

Quilt Show

Regionally made, mostly hand-stitched quilts are hung and displayed for viewing.  From Grandma's quilts to professional artists, this show offers examples of many different styles of quilts.

Cheese Food Tour

Our little town is famous for cheese so come out and enjoy tasting many kinds of cheeses, cheese dips, and cheese balls. Who doesn't want to eat cheese?! Our Cheese Contest is also open to anyone who want to cook with cheese- groups and individuals.  So enter your little chef into the contest.

We also have bbq, fried onions,homemade lemonade, hotdogs, and much more!

So do we! Not only do we love Oklahoma wine, we love all things MADE IN OKLAHOMA, that why we have created a tent just to feature Oklahoma made items.

Entertainment

We have two stages with daily entertainment featuring music, karaoke, street dance, and NEW THIS YEAR- BMX Show!

SATURDAY ONLY EVENTS

RAT RACE: Races start at Noble House, 112 N. Noble .1 mile Fun Run, 5k & 10k

CLASSIC CARS AND MOTORCYCLES: From hot rods to classics, drifters to rail jobs there is a category for everyone!  Old, New, 2 wheel or 4, fully restored or a work in progress - we welcome you to participate.  $20 registration includes entry in the show, parade entry, dash plaque and 1 All Access Pass to the Watonga Cheese Festival. All class winners receive a trophy.  For information call 580-791-1127 or 580-623-5452.

PARADE: Our wonderful parade has motorcycles, bands, fire trucks, and real cowboys participating- it is a great experience.  Starts at 12:00 p.m. on Noble Street.

RACE THE RAIL:  Cyclist ride from Watonga to Geary, then back.  The train will begin in Geary heading north to Watonga at not more than 10 mph.  So as riders are traveling South, they will meet the train and begin the chase to hopefully pass the train on the return trip to Watonga.

Race The Rail!

Bicyclist will be challenged to race the train from Watonga to Geary and back while the train just travels from Geary to Watonga. Interesting!

On Saturday at noon is our annual parade.  We feature cars, cowboys, businesses, tractors, and much more!

  • We have Love's first convenience store, heck we are home to the famous voice of Donald Duck. 
  • Watonga is named after the Arapaho Chief,  Wa-Ah-Dan-Ga-Ah, which means Black Coyote
  • Roman Nose State Park is named for the last warrior-chief of the Cheyenne Indians
  • Nereby 18- acre Boecher Lake and 55-acre Lake Watonga make for great fishing, camping and recreation.
