Gen. Tommy Franks Traveling Museum visiting Watonga Cheese Festival!

Gen. Tommy Franks Traveling Museum
The traveling Road Show and Classroom started as one of two major Phase II projects of the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute (the other being Four Star Debate). The Road Show is a traveling exhibit that enhances the educational opportunities by “taking the show to the kids.”. Two guides give instructional tours, bringing the exhibit to life. Since the beginning in September of 2008 the Road Show has traveled over 40,000 miles taking the show to over 215 schools and has guided more than 38,000 students through the exhibit. These schools have been across Oklahoma and last year extended into Texas.
The 60 foot rig showcases items from 24 different countries. Exhibit content will include selected items from museum archives. Examples of the exhibits include: Bedouin jewelry, knives and swords from Yemen, rugs from Afghanistan, & military uniforms. Educators compare and contrast these items, cultures, art, geography and social study differences and similarities.

Great Entertainment...

Gypsum River Band of Watonga

Friday Night, 3-6pm featuring the Gypsum River Band, then again Saturday from 2-4pm.  One of the hottest new country bands in Oklahoma, they are rising fast in the charts!  These three seasoned professionals have come together to create something that is a lot country, a little rock... something they call Outlaw Country!

The Kristin Nicole Band

Stick around Saturday Night, 4-6pm for the Kristy Nicole Band.  Out of Tulsa, this band knew early on that they had to be different and stand out from the rest.  Winner of the 2010 best Country Band and Best Female Vocalist for the ABOT Music Awards, this rockin' country band promises a "Crockin" good time!

Award winning comedy magician MagicJon will again emcee the stage this year, sharing his amazing illusions and humorous quips between great acts of many different genres.

Quilt Show

From vintage scrap quilts, put together by hard working farm wives using nothing more that clothing scraps, to modern day machine embroidered masterpieces, the Watonga Cheese Festival Quilt Show is a fabulous demonstration of the art behind quilting.
